On my last Sunday in Mongolia, I returned to the ger church where the journey had begun. The same small cross was on the wall, and the same stove stood in the center. But this time, the faces felt familiar.
During worship, Pastor Bat asked everyone to pray for Mongolia. A grandmother prayed for her grandchildren. A student prayed for courage at school. A young father prayed that his family would know Christ. I did not understand every Mongolian word, but I understood the tears.
After the service, the church members placed their hands on my shoulders and prayed for my journey home. I had come to learn about mission, but I was the one receiving prayer.
Outside, the wind moved across the open land. I thought of the village road, the university cafe, the monastery gate, and the new church in the rented room.
That final prayer taught me that mission is not only going to another people. It is also receiving the faith, tears, and hope that God has already placed among them.
